about the walls

On my first trip to Europe I became fascinated with the age of the places, which manifested itself most clearly on surfaces, in particular building walls. Many of these buildings have been around for hundreds of years and have had innumerable layers of paint, decoration, propoganda, and graffiti slathered upon them. Today these walls are left with uniquely rich and deep surfaces which to me have always sung out to be photographed. When viewed in the right way they are accidental abstract paintings and have their own special beauty. Or maybe I'm just crazy.
